Getting started with RetentionKit

Welcome to RetentionKit. It puts a real cancellation flow in front of your WooCommerce Subscriptions cancel button, so you can save subscribers with an offer, learn why the rest leave, and win some back. This guide gets you live in about 10 minutes.

Step 1: Install and activate

Install RetentionKit like any WordPress plugin, then add your license key to turn on updates and support. Full details in Installing RetentionKit.

Step 2: Build your cancellation flow

This is the core of RetentionKit, so it’s the first thing to set up.

Go to RetentionKit > Workflows and add one. It sits in front of the WooCommerce cancel button, so a subscriber hits your flow before they walk out the door.

Give it a question or two (why are you leaving?) and one save offer to start, like a pause or a discount. That’s enough to go live. For the full walkthrough, see Setting up a workflow.

Step 3: Read why people leave

Every cancellation is telling you something. RetentionKit writes it down.

Read the answers under RetentionKit > Responses. Patterns show up fast, too expensive, took a break, didn’t use it, and each one points at a different fix. See How to view responses.

Step 4: Watch your retention

Open RetentionKit > Dashboard to see subscribers retained, your retention rate, and which offers are doing the saving. That’s how you turn one good save offer into a system.

Step 5: Win back the ones who still leave

For the subscribers who cancel anyway, RetentionKit can hand off to Klaviyo. Connect it under RetentionKit > Settings, and a cancellation can trigger a win-back flow built on the reason they gave.

See How to integrate RetentionKit with Klaviyo and Trigger a Klaviyo win-back from survey responses.
